Physical Therapist Assistant - PRN
Effective January 20, 2022, all Ward Memorial Hospital employees will be required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment unless a documented medical or religious exemption is approved. Boosters are not required at this time.

Reporting and accountable to the Director of Physical Therapy, the Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing services including treatment and therapeutic interventions in physical medicine to patients as directed by the supervising therapist. Must follow plans created by Physical Therapist that involve strength training, exercise and physical manipulation to help patient recover loss of motor functions due to accidents, illness or age. Assist in tracking and reporting progress of patient to Physical Therapist. Additional job duties as required or assigned.

Special skills required of the Physical Therapist Assistant include professional demeanor, be customer service motivated and be able to communicate effectively with patients, family, and healthcare personnel.

Education and Experience Required:
Must be a graduate of an approved assistant's certification program. PTA must be currently licensed by the State of Texas. CPR certification is recommended. Prefer bilingual, but not required.

Physical Requirements: Duties of this position require the ability to lift/transfer patients and equipment as dictated, frequent and prolonged periods of bending, stooping, crouching, walking and standing and the ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions or directions.
