Clinic Office Clerk -FT

Position Summary:

Reporting and accountable to the Clinic Office Manager, the Admissions/Registration Clerk is responsible for providing administrative support for the department and the following:

1. Registering and admitting patients accessing our facility and enter information into the informational system completely and accurately.
2. Answers and routes all incoming calls appropriately and takes messages as needed.
3. Verifies patient's insurance and patient information.
4. Scans all appropriate documents into patient's medical record.
5. Assists patients to fill out necessary forms, including consent forms and demographic forms.
6. Interacts with clinic staff, physicians, and practitioners in a positive and professional manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and update patient charts with ancillary reports and forms from various departments.
• Maintain discharge summary reports for all patients and maintain records of all patients.
• Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment and assist to manage all requisition slops for same.
• Prepare records of patient card and provide regular updates on same on an everyday basis.
• Monitor all emergency calls and evacuate facilities when required.
• Evaluate patient charts and ensure compliance safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance to all safety policies and procedures for hospital staff.

Education, Knowledge and Skills

High school diploma or GED required. Classes or demonstrated ability in computer skills, including word processing/typing strongly preferred.
Registration/Admissions experience preferred.
Must demonstrate strong public relation skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Requirements

Maintains confidentiality of all protected health information on a daily basis.
Follows safety guidelines, compliance and all policies of the Hospital.

History:


Ward Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access facility providing healthcare services to Ward County and 14 surrounding counties in the area. The hospital has served residents of Ward County since 1956.

The hospital features a Level IV trauma designated emergency room, in addition to a wide range of medical services including laboratory, radiology, general surgery, sleep wellness center, respiratory therapy and cardiac/pulmonary rehab, rheumatology, physical therapy, and two rural health clinics.
